They're in a neutral environment. But even in the wild, people dont realize that cougars are actually shy animals. if cougars lived in Africa, they would be just as shy and timid as cheetahs are.

@@BeatsNKarats yeah, he looks pretty chunky but he’s really small in comparison to a healthy one due to Messi being severely malnourished as a cub. They’re usually about as tall as a cheetah on all fours. Cheetahs on average are 79-100 pounds and male cougars are 180-250 pounds and get 9 feet long from nose to tail, (in rare cases even bigger.) I’ve seen massive male cougars that look as big as an average lioness, I’m not joking, they get really big.

Хорошо что Месси и Герда уже начали контактировать на новом уровне. Есть ещё небольшое напряжение но уже не сторонятся друг друга. Месси делает вид что охотиться. И ничего не напугал. Просто очень дружелюбной и спокойной Герде надоела агрессия Месси. Она к нему и так и этак , а он трусишка все время рычит на нее. Вот и получил. А Гердуся сразу к маме побежала .🤣🤣Очень добрая кошка и некапризная , но и ее терпению бывает предел. Вообще то , очень умные и воспитанные коты. Даже в агрессии оба смотрят на реакцию родителей.

Had they grown together as cubs, they'd have bonded much easily and playfully. But since they've met as adults, the don't know what to do, difficult for them to build trust and play easily.

Потому что они во-первых, в природе активны в разное время суток, а во-вторых, у них разный принцип охоты, а значит - разные игры. И в-третьих, разный принцип жизни, гепардам очень нужно активно общение и «друг», когда как пумы больше одиночки)

I find I focus so much on the crazy concept of a cougar and a cheetah being together (which could potentially lead to one harming the other), that I overlook the fact that the real danger might be their individual instinct to protect Sasha. 😳 Has anyone else ever felt this way?

I don't think issue is Sasha. I think Messia before adoption was scared by other animals at place where he was living. You can see in this video how Gerda is trying to be friend and play with Messi, but Messi's tail is always down on the grass, his body where is spine goes also down in mode for attack or fear for life, and Sasha is nowhere near the animals when they interact. Messi needs training lessons to understand that Gerda is not his enemy. Maybe bringing animal trainer to train them both Messi and Gerda could help.

And Messi always in fear and self-defence affects Gerda to approach in mode of self-defence in this video so she is no more sure is Messi going to attack her. This could develop in attack. Gerda is easy going animal as visible in most parts of the video, but Messi needs to relax and he needs help with that. Gerda tried so many times in friendly way to approach to Messi and she gave him so many signs he to relax or to approch first when she stops near him, but his body movements suggest he does not see Gerda as friend. Messi's behavior affects that Gerda is changing and both are starting to charge each other.

Как говорится, дедовщину никто не отменял 😅 Месси же первым в семье появился, вот он так и ведёт себя смело с Гердой 😁😁😁. Но когда он вылетел из-за ёлки на Герду и когда отхватил от Герды лапой - это два момента, когда аж дух перехватило при просмотре. Уфффф. В первом случае сразу напомнил, что Месси - это хищник, а не просто домашний ласковый плюшевый послушный игривый кот, которого мы чаще всего наблюдаем. Какая стойка, прижатые уши, грозный вид. В этом Вашем видео есть возможность понаблюдать за повадками животных и как два хищника общаются (например, как Месси терся об угол бассейна, помечая территорию). За это Вам спасибо, очень интересно 😊

Когда Герда лапой его задела чуть чуть бы и они вцепились😔 Вернее Масян готов был к этому😧 аж испугалась за обеих🤦🏻‍♀️

@@Raduga-ok1et интересно, что делать в таком случае, у нас когда сцепились 2 кота (один наш, другого пожить друзья принесли на время их отпуска) в один оруще-визжащий клубок, мы их из пульверизатора водой пшикали, пока не разошлись, если бы руками их хватали, был бы капец рукам... Зато через три дня эти красавцы уже были дружбанами, вместе в окно смотрели, вместе ели, играли😺 С такими крупными кошками не знаю что делать в случае драки, из огнетушителя или шланга для газона поливать? 🤔

Кира Меську тоже шпыняла. Он к ней лез а она на него шипела. Теперь в роли старожила, который не слишком то доволен тем что появилась какая то новая кошка, сам Месси.

Хищник - это тот, кто других животных себе в пищу добывает, а не тот кто угол бассейна помечает) Вот мой домашний ласковый плюшевый послушный кот, вот он был хищник: часто по утрам мне пол крысы или мыши приносил, делился со мной)

I think it's better to keep them apart. Messi is always tensed and scared of Gerda though he has learnt to confront her. Messi may chase her and startle her for fun but for Gerda it's not fun. She used her paws again today.

It is all natural behavior for two wild species of cats, and he is not at fault for it. But that's not doing nothing to provoke a swat. She was defending herself. I wonder what Gerda ever did to you, and your cluster of hate clique members on here, that you have to come on here and paint her in this light to other people? You just make yourself sound like a damn fool!
